Missing Swansea, Cherishing Wildlife
I’m missing Swansea this week; the place, the feel, my family and friends back home. I enjoy life in Ireland but sometimes I just get this ache . . . It’s probably because it’s over four months since my last visit.
Off to see the Wizard, Picnics & Poetry
We were off the see the Wizard last Sunday, having bought cinema tickets for Oz the Great and Powerful. The film made my weekend, with its stunning fantasy world and a tug at childhood memories.
Swallows and Rabbits, the Story Continues
Swallows and rabbits, oh my! Yes, I am happy to confirm that the swallows are back and a rabbit has taken up residence in my garden. I’m delighted, it’s just a pity the weather can’t stay as even-tempered!
Arty Foodie Creative Writing
I’m really looking forward to teaching a Creative Writing Workshop at Bridge House, Dungarvan this Saturday. The workshop is being held in association with Storytelling Southeast, a Writing Festival which occurs in Autumn. The festival team also support art and literature events throughout the year.
Reflections on Easter Walks and Wildlife
I’ve been enjoying a peaceful and reflective Easter, filled with walks and wildlife. It started with the sun on Good Friday, when hubs and I decided to revisit a favourite walk, last undertaken in May of 2012.
Waterford Waits, Poetry Reading with K. S. Moore
I’m still buzzing from all the excitement of Waterford Writers’ Weekend. For those that didn’t make it to my reading, here is a video clip from the day. It features a poem called ‘Waterford Waits’, written in 2007 and inspired by Waterford Hurlers.
Rugby, Poetry, Wales on Fire
Right now, I have Rugby, Poetry and Wales on my mind. As you can imagine, I’m still in a whirl, following Wales’ successful bid to steal the 6 Nations crown for a second year running last Saturday. The match had all the ingredients that make rugby enthralling, gritty, soul-baring stuff.
Write a Short Story, Find the Spring
I thoroughly enjoyed teaching a Creative Writing workshop over the weekend. The aim was to write a short story in one day and the attendees rose to the challenge with breathtaking results. I can’t reveal too many story secrets but will say that the quality of writing was very high.
