The Story of Our Baby Swallow

We found a swallow in our garden last week, a baby swallow or fledgling. I'm not so sure he was ready to fledge but he found himself out of the nest all the same. Watching him flap his wings and cooing over his downy head (well, I cooed) we found ourselves arguing over what to call him.

When I was watching Springwatch a month ago little did I know that I would be one of the lucky few to spot a Pine Marten. The animal was featured on the programme and named as a rare and endangered species.

I've been braving the elements again, shimmying in the summer rain, rocking the latest waterproof fashions, discovering riverside wildlife.I know how to live in these conditions (well, I've had plenty of practice over the soggy years).

Father’s Day: The Wisdom of a Wagtail
