Walking by the River
I love walking by the river in Carrick-on-Suir. The water always looks so fresh and cool. Sometimes it’s possible to distinguish black flickers of fish in the depths. Swans parade like floating snowdrops and on a sunny day the sky presses, only offering a bare trace of breeze.
Hill Watching, The Clancys and Ormond Castle
My weekend was pretty different, inspiring me to write about a cluster of experiences. I have been surprised by the weather, intriguing landscapes, an historic building and a local festival. The fun began with a picnic overlooking stunning views on the way to Clonmel (see pic).
Circus Tricks, Walks and Plaice
I’m a regular at the circus, since moving to Ireland four years ago. My Mum-in-Law’s field provides the perfect base for visiting circuses and means that Hubs and I get free tickets! Circus Gerbola was the latest troupe of entertainers to settle in for the weekend.
Performing Poetry, Chasing Spiders
I was performing poetry at Brewery Lane, Carrick-on-Suir last Friday. I was also battling a severe case of stage fright. Back when I ran a small publishing company called ‘Young Welsh and Poetic’, I read poetry regularly, for the most part at my own events, on my own terms.
